GPS / GIS

HARMSEN & ASSOCIATES uses its 5 GPS (Global Positioning System) receivers to establish accurate control over large areas. Although GPS surveying has higher per hour charges, it saves money on selected projects because of the time savings and accuracy.

There has been survey equipment in the past that did not require "line of sight," but only when GPS equipment became available has it been accurate & cost effective enough for general use. GPS is also the preferred choice for establishing the base control for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) because it establishes control which is useful on the national (or global) grid.
